Our Wedding

Our story started in 2017 at Lone Star when the Barrhaven location first opened. Malcolm worked in the kitchen and Maddie was a server. If you've ever been to that restaurant, you'll know that nobody actually knows anyone's real name, they used nicknames. Maddie would refer to Malcolm as "Card Man" when she was telling her friends about him because of the playing card tattoo on his forearm.

Our Story

Despite what Malcolm may tell you, Maddie was the one who first showed interest and started the workplace flirting. After some persistence (and probably liquid courage), Malcolm finally asked her on a date.

They officially started dating in March 2018 and have been inseparable ever since. Every year they celebrate their anniversary with a trip to Tremblant, a tradition they have kept from the very beginning.

Since then, they have travelled to 14 countries, explored countless cities &amp; campsites, bought their first condo in 2023, and welcomed Collins (their dog) to the family in November 2024.

In February 2026, Malcolm proposed during a quiet evening at home, just them, which felt exactly right. Soon they will be off to elope in New York City and couldn't be happier to celebrate this next chapter of their lives with you in Ottawa on September 19th. They are especially excited to be getting married on October 5th, as it is Maddie's grandparents' wedding anniversary. Their long, loving, and healthy marriage has always been something she deeply admired, and it means so much to share such a special date with them and honour the example they set.
